Don’t Say You Don’t Have Time
A great paradox of the technological era is that despite each wondrous new invention the demands on our time become ever greater and the promise of a leisure society seems further away than ever. Take for instance the ubiquitous cell phone; before these little marvels appeared, being out of the office meant being off duty, nowadays we are on call 24/7. Or the Internet, the truly fantastic global computer network that places a world of knowledge at our fingertips; the trouble is we’re now so overloaded with information we often can’t begin to sift the (little) meaningful content from the (mass of) dross.
I don't have a lot of time to exercise but i need to do something?
Lucy - March 8th, 2010 at 4:24 pmI don’t have enough time to a proper work out at the gym or anywhere for that matter. Is there something I could do which would help me shed the pounds but not take up much time?
Thanks
Well, I was a gymnast for 3 years and was a diver too, and i think i have a few ideas on how to do this.
First, I would try to do a lot of cardio, and a good example is running. Running is an all around good exercise. It helps many parts of the body.
But if you aren’t one for running, abs are a great area to work on. Good exercises for this area are sit-ups, crunches , and one of my personal favorites, something called a hollow hold. To do a hollow hold you lay on your back and lift your shoulders and legs off the ground so the small of you back is the only thing touching the ground. And hold until you can feel the burn. I would do this a few times a day, and i think you will see some improvements.
Another suggestion, mainly for you quads(the muscles on the top of your thighs) are squat jumps or holds and wall sits. Again i would do these of hold these until you feel the burn.
And another suggestion, which isn’t really for losing weight, but gaining muscle are calf raises. For this exercise, you stand on the edge of something like stairs and raise up and down. Again, do this until you feel the burn in your calves.
A good idea is that if you take the elevator at places, you should try taking the stairs instead. You should also try and eat healthy. That is a big contributor.
Well, i hope this helps and FEEL THE BURN!!! lol. Good luck!

Run for 20 minutes a day.If you honestly cant come up with an extra 20 minutes a day you really aren’t trying. Everyone has 20 minutes, you could be doing it right now.

you could always just say carry more books in your bag if your a student, or carry more in a bag and bring it to work, which will make your muscles work more throughout the day….and by flushing out your body, you’re merely removing the waste that will just build back up, so it will be fast results but not very long lasting

You always have time to excersize stop some of the tv watching and spend a hour at the gym, 3-4 days a week. and start to eat healthier. if you dont do these things odds are you will not shed the pounds.

common sense
Here’s a post off my blog that may be of some help to you…
Are you still using the old excuse “I’d love to lose weight but I just can’t find time.”
But do you, I know you might have a lot going on your life but believe me you do have the time; you just have to make it.
Its all about priorities, so how high on your list is getting back in shape?
High or Low?
If it really that high on your list this year are you putting other less important things first things first?
So how do you go about this… in two words “Time Management.”
If you’ve worked for a pretty good sized company, you’ll know at least once they’ve looked at how they can get the most work done in the least amount of time. The way they look at it they can always make more money but not time, 24 hours is 24 hours no matter what part of the world your business is in. So by changing a few tasks here and there in the company suddenly they find they released more time that can be used elsewhere.
And thats what you’re also going to need to do. Let’s apply time management skills to your day.
How often do we have down time? Maybe you’re cooking dinner or waiting for a client to reply to a request. If you think hard enough, there are at least 30 minutes in your day that you don’t do anything.
Why not, make that exercise time?
Who says you need hours to get fit? Those thirty minutes aren’t all together but as long as you know that you have that time, you can schedule some exercise in to fill the slot.
Now, think of an exercise that you wouldn’t mind doing. It could be bicycle riding, jumping rope or dancing are just a few examples. It is a fact that when you don’t like the exercise you are doing, you won’t stick with it. Losing steam and quitting is one of the biggest motivational crushers there is.
When you begin by choosing an exercise that you love and can get excited about, even at 5 a.m., you are more apt to stay motivated and find the time to do it.
Consistency is the key here. You’ve found thirty minutes in your day but maybe you could find more as you begin to see results. It’s ok to start small. Don’t feel like you must spend two hours, or even one, at the gym or working out at home. Even if it’s only 15 minutes a day walking or dancing in your living room to start with, you’re doing more than you were and should be proud of yourself.
Try to find an exercise that you can do anywhere. Let’s take bicycle riding. While your son is at soccer practice, you can ride your bike. Choose a nearby trail or just pedal around the field or parking lot.
If you like to walk, you can walk just about anywhere. Keep a pair of running shoes and light weights in your car so you are ready for a jam session whenever you can fit one in. Thirty minutes here plus another fifteen there all adds up to increasing your fitness level. Don’t let the thought of not having enough time hold you back.
Shorter bursts of more intense exercises often work better for overall fitness. So, even if you only have 10 minutes, give it all you’ve got. Run in place as fast as you can, dance to the most upbeat and fast paced music you can find. Just remember if you’re going for short, intense workouts to give it your all the entire time.
Making time for exercise is not easy but it is necessary. Consider where you can shave some time off your schedule and pen in some exercise time. Once in the mindset, you’ll find more workout opportunities presenting themselves all on their own.
Still think you haven’t got enough time?

If you can do around 30 minutes of vigorous exercise per day, it will help you lose weight, but probably not that much. If you’re very busy you could try breaking it up into 10 or 15 minute intervals of jogging or brisk walking through out your day. You could also turn daily activities into exercises, like if you’re putting groceries away you could use some of what you bought as weights for a few minutes, then continue with what you need to do, and of course take the stairs instead of the elevator. You don’t need to do it all at once in the day, you’re still benefiting from the exercise. Also cut down on snacking or fast food and go for healthy homemade snacks/meals.
