if you have a husky or a husky mix what are their bad habbits?
do they run away every chance they get? do they completely ignore your commands when they dont see the point in them? do they dig? growl? bite? chew? howel? were you able to fix these problems? personal experience only please…
i have a shepherd/husky mix im just wondering if people have the same problems with their dog as i do with mine..im pretty experienced with dogs but this one is giving me a run for my money
Some characteristics vary from dog, but they will run away if they get the chance and they will nor come back if you call them.. They are also independent and stubborn, not very easy to train. Yes they do tend to dig. They dont really growl or bite because this is a more friendly breed. Some tend to be vocal [ not my husky ] and if not exercised or bored, they will chew on everything. As in fixing, it is very hard to overgo theyre instincts. If you dont think you can handlle one, dont get one. get a golden retriever or something.
I have a sharperd /husky mix and the only big prob we have with her is she does not like to be left alone at all and when we leave her just for a little bit she chews on every thing so now we just pin her up in the kitchen but other then that she is a very smart puppy and very loving

husky owner.
You get most of the puppy habits in Huskys that you get with any breed but there are a few things with huskys you really need to know.
They are very pack orientated. This means that you have to be the top dog and make sure they know you are top dog. This is serious stuff with huskys. There are several reported cases where experienced breeders are mauled by there own huskys when they get to old to dominate them anymore. This is just their pack mentality.
Ways to remain at the top of the tree is mainly to give them constant discipline. Work on this pack mentality. In a pack the top dog always eats first so feed the dog after you have eaten.
In a pack the top dog gets to sleep in the most comfortable spot so if you allow your dog inside and he is on the couch when you go to sit down make him move preferably to the floor.
Make your dog wait when you go through doors, gates, etc first.
The other thing with huskys is they often have the habit of killing any small animals they can get at. That means if they come across cats, rabbits, hedgehogs, etc on your property there is a good chance they will kill them.
The other thing with huskys is that they are fully grown by about nine months but still have the mentality of a puppy. This makes them tough to handle as they are big strong dogs. If you are walking him and he decides to try and chase another dog to play there is often very little you can do about it.
The best advice to give is to only get a husky if you consider yourself experienced with dogs, physically strong enough to control one, and most importantly not to soft hearted to discipline them properly. They are beutiful dogs though and are full of energy to play so if you think you fit the criterier they can be great pets.
